Children and Parents
Our Website is not designed for use by children under the age of 13 and we do not intend to collect personal information from such users. Children under 13 years old should not register for, use, or provide information to our Website and should ask their parents to do so on their behalf. Minors between the ages of 13 and 17 must get the permission of their parents or legal guardians before making purchases on this site. The Information We Collect
How We Gather and Use Personal Information
Home Run Meals collects personal information from users at several different points on the Website, as set forth below. In general we use personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, such as to provide services or complete transactions you have requested, for billing purposes, and to anticipate and resolve problems with the Website and our products and services. In addition we use personal information for our own internal business operations, to respond to customer support inquiries and for other purposes as described below.
Registration, Purchases, Submissions and Newsletters
When you register to become a member on our Website you are asked to create a unique username and password and are required to give certain personal information such as your name and email address. We may also request certain information about your tastes and preferences, such as the types of recipes you enjoy or dietary restrictions that might effect your use of the Website.
Information you provide might be used, alone or in conjunction with other information, for some or all of the following:
To provide services you have requested or to otherwise fulfill your request;
For editorial purposes such as when you submit a recipe, comment or meal plan to us (such as to attribute the contribution to your username).
To contact you for any reason regarding content you have submitted to the Website.
To contact you from time to time, as you allow, regarding (i) services on our Website for which you have expressed interest; (ii) news or updates pertaining to Home Run Meals; (iii) for internal marketing, informational and promotional purposes; or (iv) for any other lawful purpose related to your use of the Website.
To fulfill any orders you make, to bill your for them, and to contact you regarding your order.
If during or after the registration process you choose to view offers for goods and services that are available from selected third party companies we will make certain contact and demographic information you provide available to these vendors for the purpose of fulfilling your request or facilitating your use of the vendor’s services. These vendors may use the information we provide in conjunction with information you provide directly to those vendors. For more information about disclosure of your personal information to Vendors, and their use thereafter, please see the “Disclosure of Personal Information” section below.
Information including your username and information that you elect to display publicly on the website (such as photos you submit, recipe comments and your rating of recipes) will be visible to other users and might appear in the results of searches conducted on Internet search engines while you are a member of the Website and for some time after your membership is terminated depending upon the search engine’s indexing practices.
We may use the information you provide to deliver transactional business communications to you, such as confirming your e-mail address, resetting your password or delivering administrative messages. These messages will be delivered to the email address you provided, to your street address, or through a Message service on the Website. Receipt of these messages is a non-optional condition for using the Website.
When you submit your e-mail address to us to initiate a subscription to one of our newsletters or e-mail programs we ask for personal information such as your name and e-mail address. We use a “double opt-in” process for newsletters to ensure that you receive only the newsletters which you request. Non transactional communications such as marketing messages, promotional offers, newsletters or other subscription-based email programs are optional, and we will provide you with the opportunity to select whether or not to receive such messages and to unsubscribe from any mailings you no longer wish to receive.
Referrals and Social Features
When you elect to use our referral service for e-mailing a message, recipe or other content to a friend or referring a friend to an area of the Website, we ask you for your friend’s name and e-mail address so that we can deliver the content as you request. Home Run Meals will automatically send your friend a one-time e-mail on your behalf which contains the recipe or other content or which invites your friend to visit the area of the Website you specify. This message will include your name and e-mail address to identify the source of the referral. We will use your friend’s name and e-mail address to send this one-time e-mail and to track the success of our referral program. We will not use the information you provide about your friend to send additional mailings or to engage in unsolicited marketing of any kind. Use of our referral systems to send unwanted spam is a violation of our Terms and Conditions and is not permitted.
Contests, Promotions, Offers and Surveys
We may request personal information from users during the administration of certain contests, promotions, offers and surveys. Participation in these activities is voluntary and you therefore may choose not to disclose personal information in connection with these activities. Types of information collected through these activities may include your contact information and demographic information. We use this information to notify you if you have won a contest and to award prizes. Additionally we use information we collect for internal purposes, such as to ascertain common uses of the Website and to improve its functionality. We may combine information attained in this way with other information, including your registration information. We may share information collected in this way with certain third parties as discussed in the “Disclosure of Personal Information” section below, but we will disclose any such use to you at the time the information is collected.
We collect personal information when you submit comments, questions or suggestions to our customer service department. We use the information you provide to respond to your submissions or make improvements or modifications to the Website.
Cookies, Pixel Tags and Log Files
Home Run Meals uses and permits third party advertisers to use pixel tags, or web beacons, on the website and in e-mails. The purpose of these tags is to monitor the effectiveness of advertising and the delivery rate of our messages as well as for other lawful purposes. These pixel tags do not collect personally identifying information about you.
Home Run Meals makes use of log files which log the IP address of users when they visit part of our Website. We use these log files to analyze trends, administer the website, track movement between pages and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We may link this information to other information we have about you. We use this information for our internal marketing and operating purposes.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Disclosure with Consent. With your consent we might disclose your personal information to third parties in order to provide you with products and services you have requested. We may provide information to third party vendors that you elect to receive service from for the purpose of fulfilling your order or request. With your consent we also may disclose information about you to third parties in conjunction with (i) your entry into a contest or promotion, (ii) your request for a special offer, or (iii) your participation in a survey or similar activity. You might be asked for additional information in order to enter a contest or promotion, request a special offer, or participate in a survey. Third parties will use the information we provide to them, along with any additional information you provide, in order to (i) notify you if you have won a prize in a contest or sweepstakes, and (ii) fulfill your requests for products or services you may make in connection with your entry, request or participation. These third parties are contractually obligated to keep such information confidential and to only use it for the purposes for which it was provided. When we disclose information collected during a contest, promotion, special offer or survey to third parties we will disclose this to you at the time of collection.
Internal Business Purposes. We may use and disclose information about you for our own internal statistical, design, or operational purposes, such as to estimate our audience size, measure traffic patterns and understand demographic, user interest, purchasing and other trends among our users. We might outsource these tasks and disclose personal information about you to third parties provided the use and disclosure of your personal information by these parties is restricted to the performance of such tasks. We might also share personal information with third-party vendors who assist us in performing internal functions necessary to operate our business. We require third party vendors to keep such information confidential and to use it only for the purpose for which it was provided.
Business Transfers. We may disclose information about out users as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, or in the event of insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which personally identifiable information could be transferred to third parties as one of the business assets of the company.
We use reasonable security measures to protect and store your personally identifying information in order to protect it from loss, misuse, or destruction by unauthorized parties while it is under or control. We may use secure socket layer (“SSL”) encryption when transmitting certain kinds of information, such as payment information, over the Internet. However no system of electronic security is impenetrable and Home run Meals cannot absolutely guarantee the security of the information you send to us or the security of our servers or databases. By using the Website you agree to assume all risk in connection with the information sent to us or collected by us when you use the Website. In the unlikely event that we believe the security of your information under our control has been compromised, we may seek to notify you, if notification is appropriate, using the e-mail address you have associated with your account.
You may update, change or correct certain personal information we store about you by logging into your account and visiting the Account Profile page.
You may opt out of receiving commercial e-mail from us by following the opt-out instructions provided in the message. However, you will still receive account-related messages from us. To be placed on our no-email list, send a request to email@example.com with “No-Email List” in the subject line. Once your request has been processed this will prevent you from receiving messages directly from Home Run Meals. To opt out of any messages from third parties you must follow the opt out procedures provided by those third parties directly.
California Privacy Rights
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits customers who are California residents to request certain information regarding disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Home Run Meals does not provide your personal information to any third party for their direct marketing purposes without your consent. If, having provided your consent, you would later like to revoke it, send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org with “California Opt-Out” in the subject line. Please note that this opt out will not prevent the use of information that has already been disclosed to third parties with your consent, and you must contact those parties directly to opt out from such communications.
